Do you love ribbon? Do you have lots of ribbon in your stash? Well, this Technique Tuesday blog hop is for you. The Crafty Collaborations team members are all sharing techniques for using ribbon.
The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
This card uses the Shaded Summer stamp set as the focal point but is enhanced by a ribbon with a subtle design on it. I chose the burlap ribbon from the Real Red & Burlap Ribbon combo pack. It has a bit of substance to it, but also ties without too much bulk.

To make this ribbon have a bit more texture and add more pizzazz to the card, I stamped the small sprig branch from the Shaded Summer along the length of the ribbon with Mint Macaron ink. It adds just the right touch. A darker color may have been more noticeable but I didn’t want to detract from the large stamped image.

INstructions
- Cut a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Mint Macaron card base and score at 4 1/4″.
- Adhere a 2″ x 5 1/2″ Mint Macaron checked print piece of DSP onto a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Basic White. There will be a small border on the sides only.
- Adhere this to the card base about 3/8″ from the left side.
- Use the 2nd largest Scalloped Contour die to cut a piece of basic white. With Crumb Cake ink, stamp the largest flower on the center of this piece.
- Stamp “Hello You’ with Mint Macaron ink to the left of the flower.
- Stamp enough burlap ribbon to wrap it around the basic white and tie a square knot.
- Tie stamped ribbon around the scalloped rectangle.
- Use dimensionals to adhere it to the front of your card base.
- On a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White, stamp two sprigs in the lower left hand corner and two sprigs in the upper right hand corner.
- Adhere to the inside of the card.
Here’s one more card that shows another way to use ribbon. Take a small scrap of ribbon and tie a bow around it with a piece of twine. This way of using ribbon makes the card much easier to mail as well.
