Water Color Backgrounds

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

Today our theme is the 2024-2026 In Colors. I’ve chosen to use a few of the new colors to create cards with a water color background.

I’ve created this background a bit differently. I pressed a large block into two different color ink pads – Summer Splash and Petunia Pop and then spritzed with water. I stamped the block directly onto Basic White Thick card stock. Each background comes out a bit different which is part of the fun. You never quite know what you’ll get!

After the background is dry, stamp the flower from Beauty with Flowers stamp set and a sentiment from the Unbounded Love stamp set with Stazon ink (or Memento but it might “run” a bit if not 100% dry) and add a mat. I think the Basic Black mats make the backgrounds POP! A bit of ribbon or Linen Thread is the finishing touch.

I seem to be very attracted to the Summer Splash color. I used it again with this card.

• Card Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
• Basic Black Mat 5 1/4″ x 4″
• Thick Basic White for background 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
• Basic White for insert 5 1/4″ x 4″
