Thoughtful Journeys Sending Happy Thoughts

The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. My Thoughtful Journeys Sending Happy Thoughts Card was fun and easy to make. By starting with a piece of gorgeous Thoughtful Journeys patterned paper, my color decisions were simplified. I just went with the colors in the paper. The card base is Pretty Peacock and the mat on the square is Pool Party. The banner is edged in Petunia Pop. Again, the colors for the accent flowers also came from the patterned paper. I just added Wild Wheat to that mix.

Here’s the Sketch that inspired the card.

You can see that I followed the sketch pretty closely. Remember, a sketch is only a starting point. If you look at this sketch and go in a different direction, that is okay!

Cut a Pretty Peacock card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″.
Adhere a 3 1/2″ square of Thoughtful Journeys patterned paper to a 3 5/8″ x 3 5/8″ piece of Pool Party card stock. Adhere these to the front of the card leaving an equal sized border on the top, left and right sides.
Trim another pattern of Thoughtful Journeys to 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ and cut a banner on the end. (Watch the video to learn the trick I used.)
Glue a thin strip of Petunia Pop card stock to each edge of the banner. Adhere to the front of the card.
Die cut the three colors using tone on tone stamping with Petunia Pop, Pool Party, and Wild Wheat. Die cut with the corresponding dies.
Use dimensionals to adhere to the front.
Stamp your “sending happy thoughts” on a 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Pool Party colored patterned paper. Adhere this to the front with dimensionals as well.
On a piece of 5 1/4″ x 4″ Basic White, stamp the dots in Pool Party in the lower left corner and use Wild Wheat to stamp the smallest flower over that. Adhere to the inside.
