The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today our theme is the Whitewash Technique. I will not be surprised if you see as many variations on this technique as there are creators in the blog hop.

I chose the Spotlight on Nature set and the Spotlight on Nature dies. I love the leaves and tulips of this stamp set and those circle dies with all the detail are amazing! Whitewashing is not a difficult technique. I have instructions and a video for you in hopes that you will give it a try.
Instructions for Spotlight on nature thanks card
- Cut a Night of Navy card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″. Fold and burnish.
- Cut two Basic White mats 5 1/4″ x 4″.
- Cut a Night of Navy mat 5″ x 3 3/4″.
- On the Night of Navy mat, use White Craft ink to stamp the leaves twice so they are “growing” from the bottom left corner.
- Add the tulips (also stamped in White Craft ink) so they grow out of the leaves and fill the top center of the card.
- Squirt a drop or two of White Craft ink onto a block and dilute with a drop of water from your water painter. Use the medium water painter to paint white craft ink over the leaves and flowers.
- The white ink you stamped will blend slightly. That’s okay.
- Let this dry a bit or dry with your heat tool. Then add Shaded Spruce ink to a block and mix with a drop of water. Paint this on the leaves.
- Do the same with Melon Mambo ink and paint the tulips.
- Die cut the flowers with the 3 1/4″ circle that has a floral pattern around the rim.
- Adhere the stamped Night of Navy piece to a white mat without the die cut circle.
- Adhere the circle with dimensionals.
- Tie the white ribbon from the Petal Pink and White Diagonal Trim combo pack around the two layers.
- Adhere to the card front.
- Add three pink gems from the Tinsel Gem Four pack around the circle.
- On the second Basic White mat, stamp the leaves in shaded spruce in the lower left corner.
- Adhere to the inside of the card base.
