Welcome to the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. Today we are featuring step cards and I will be sharing a Step Card with a Twist. Here it is made with the Serene Love patterned paper.

I am in love with the Serene Love paper. (This is an online exclusive that you can see here. ) It is a remake of a black and white paper pack from a few years ago. I love Night of Navy so I couldn’t wait to use these papers. The beautiful floral focal point is fussy cut from the paper! The only stamping is the Happy Birthday sentiment which is a sneak peek from another online exclusive product that will be released on January 7 called the Spring Corners bundle. The delicate die cut flower on the inside is from a die in this bundle.
Here’s another Step Card with a Twist that I made with the Wildflower Birthday Suite from the new mini catalog.

The Wildflower Birthday DSP comes with two sheets of die cuts that are so beautiful. The card and the blue flower in the lower right bottom are two examples of the die cuts. The dies that go along with this bundle also cut out numbers! I die cut the numbers from the Basic White insert on the inside of the card and allowed the Blueberry Bushel to show through.

I hope you’ll give this Step Card with a Twist a try. I’ve included instructions and a video for you.
instructions for the Serene Love Step Card with a Twist
- Cut a card base 4 1/4″ x 10 5/8″. Score the long side at 5/8″ and 5 7/8″.
- Make a pencil mark on the 5 7/8″ score line at 2 1/8″ and 3 1/8″.
- Make a pencil mark on the 5/8″ score line at 3/4″ and 2 7/8″. (This measurement was incorrect in the video.)
- Cut the front only of the card base from the 2 1/8″ mark at the top to the 3/4″ mark at the bottom.
- Make a similar cut from the 3 1/8″ mark to the 2 7/8″. Erase all the pencil marks.
- Make a score line 3/4″ from the fold line on the center piece ONLY of the card front.
- Score a line 5/8″ from the bottom score line to the left and right of the center piece only.
- Fold on the score line so the bottom most score line is a mountain and the score lines on either side of the central piece become valleys.
- Fold the top central score line as a mountain. Burnish all the folds.
- On a 3 3/4″ x 4 3/8″ piece of Serene Love patterned paper (make sure the pattern is correct in portrait orientation), mark the top edge at 1 7/8″ and 2 7/8″. Then mark the bottom at 3/4″ and 2 5/8″.
- Cut from the top left pencil mark to the bottom left pencil mark and repeat for the second set of marks.
- Adhere your patterned paper to the front.
- Cut a 1/2″ x 4 1/8″ piece of patterned paper for the very bottom section of the card front. Adhere.
- Fussy cut a large flower from the Serene Love patterned paper. Adhere it to a piece of Graceful Greenery Vellum cut with the second largest square from the Stylish Shapes dies.
- Pop the entire piece up on the front putting dimensionals on the back of the vellum only where the flower prevents them from showing.
- Stamp ‘happy birthday’ from the Spring Corners stamp set in Night of Navy ink on a 3/8″ scrap of Basic White.
- Add three Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels.
- On a 4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Basic White, die cut a corner flower using the Spring Corner dies- another online exclusive.
- Adhere to the inside.
Here is one more example of a Step Card with a Twist using the Wildflower Birthday suite.

You can also watch a replay of a FaceBook live to see how to make this card. The measurements differ slightly in the video as I miss cut the card base and had to correct the cuts on the DSP.
