Thanks for hopping with the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. We are card makers and paper crafters from around the world and hope to inspire you to create more cards! Today we are focused on Masking Techniques.

This card features a vertical strip of ink- Orchid Oasis and Tahitian Tide blended in an irregular column with stamping right over it. I love this look and find it easy to create with the new masking paper. I ripped a thin piece of the masking paper and applied it to the left side of my card front. NOTE: I do adhere the masking paper to my clothing before putting it on the card stock as I find it so sticky it can rip the paper. Then I tore another piece of masking paper to place about an inch or so to the right.
Using blending brushes I layered each color of ink on the Basic White card stock in between the masked areas, making sure to overlap the colors a bit in the middle. (I started with 5 1/4″ x 4″ but cut it down to 5″ x 3 3/4″ after I finished blending.)
I stamped the large stem and flower from the Sending Smiles stamp set with Memento Black ink. The card front was then matted on a piece of Basic Black cut 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″.
The shadow layer of “Sending” was die cut from Orchid Oasis and layered with the narrow Sending die cut from Basic Black. “Comfort and Strength” were stamped in Orchid Oasis and die cut with one of the label dies from the bundle.
The card front was then adhered to an Orchid Oasis card base cut 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. The card was finished with several 2022-2024 In Color Matte Dots.

Thank you, Linda.
I am a huge fan of the torn look on cards and this is a great new way to add it to more than the edges of the cardstock! Thanks for sharing this technique!
So glad you like it. I hope you will give it a try. It’s my favorite way to mask.
