Match Day Happy Birthday

It’s time for our Creativity Abounds Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world- all with different styles- who hope to inspire you to create beautiful cards and send them to friends and family. Each month we create a tutorial that you can receive with an order from one of us as well as a blog post. These are often centered on a particular theme or technique.

This month our theme is centered around KIDS- kids birthday cards or other projects with a theme of kids. Here is my birthday card.

I have grandchildren that play soccer and you may, too. Why not make a card for them that includes one of their interests. This card is also a fun fold and those bring smiles as well.

All of these elememts- cones, shirt, ball, grass and goal come from the Match Day bundle. It has more fun images and dies including one I put on the back of the card- a trophy.

Why not make a Z fold card for a child in your life? I know it will bring a smile.

instructions for the Z fold card

Cut a 4 1/4″ X 11″ piece of Old Olive card stock.
Score at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″. Fold in half at 5 1/2″ and fold back to the left on the 2 3/4″ score line.
Cut two 2 1/2″ x 4″ pieces of the green patterned paper from the Mixed Up Patterns paper pack and adhere to the first two sections of the card base.
Adhere a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece to the largest section of the card base.
Cut a 1 1/2″ x 11″ strip of Old Olive card stock and score at 2 3/4″ and 5 12″.
Cut two 2 1/2″ by 1″ pieces of the green striped patterned paper and adhere to the small sections of this strip of card stock.
Adhere a 5 1/4″ x 1″ piece of the same paper to the longer section.
Flip the strip so the long piece will span the two smaller sections of the card base. (In essence, the small strip folds in an opposite way to the card base.)
Die cut a strip of grass and adhere to the back of the larger section of the strip as shown.
With the card base folded, put adhesive on the first 2 3/4″ section and adhere the strip to the bottom.
Add adhesive to the outermost 2 1/2″ section of the thin strip and adhere to the right edge of the card base, holding the card and strip folded as you adhere.
Die cut the following pieces:
- soccer net from Basic White
- trace around the net die on Balmy Blue and fussy cut out.
- Stamp the shirt on Balmy Blue with Balmy Blue and die cut.
- Die cut two cones from Pumpkin Pie
- Stamp and die cut a flag using Old Olive ink on Old Olive card stock
- Die cut two tufts of grass from Old Olive
- Stamp the soccer ball using Memento and die cut
- Die cut a trophy from gold foil
Assemble the card as shown. Pup up the shirt and the ball.
Stamp Happy and Birthday using Old Olive and Balmy Blue ink on a scrap of Basic White.
Trim with the trimmer and adhere to the front.
Stamp “celebrate” on a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White and then adhere to the back.
Adhere the trophy to the bottom of the Basic White too.

The Waterside Retreat Stamp Camp includes prerecorded videos and a bundle of written tutorials showing how to make the 13 Make & Take card kit cards. Live videos showing additional BONUS cards and techniques are presented the weekend of the camp in an exclusive FaceBook group. You will have 26 projects and many tips for successful creating with this suite by the time Stamp Camp is over! It’s a great value!

There are challenges and more! Everything happens in a private Facebook Group that will stay on Facebook for as long as Facebook allows it. We will also upload the videos to YouTube so that those who participate in the stamp camp can view them indefinitely.
