Layered Florals Split Embossing Folder

Today I will be sharing an old “split embossing” technique that I did so long ago, I don’t have a photo of the “old” to show you, but here is the NEW! It features the new Layered Florals 3D embossing folder now available in the 2024 January – April Mini Catalog.

As you can see, this technique is pretty simple. Before I embossed the Azure Afternoon mat, I scored lines about an inch from the bottom and about an inch apart. Then I embossed the mat in two different passes through my Cut & Emboss machine. The white heat embossed the sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments stamp set. I love the way those score lines frame the sentiment and set it off a bit!

INstructions for the Layered Florals Split Embossing Technique

1. Cut a Basic White Thick card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″.
2. Cut a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Azure Afternoon card stock. Use your trimmer to score two lines at 3 1/4″ and 3 1/8″. Then slide it over a bit more and score at 4 1/4″ and 4 3/8″.
3. Rub the area between the score lines with your embossing buddy and then stamp in White Craft ink. Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat set. TIP: use white craft ink when embossing in white as it gives more complete coverage.
4. Line up the Layered Florals 3D embossing folder so it meets the outside score line on and run through the Cut & Emboss machine.
5. Repeat for the bottom portion.
6. Punch a 1 3/4″ circle from Basic White and place it in the embossing folder so it embosses one flower in it. Run through the machine.
7. Adhere the circle with dimensionals next to the sentiment.
8. Add three Iridescent Pearl Basics around the sentiment.

Here’s one last photo that shows the gorgeous, deep embossing that this 3D embossing folder will do on your card stock.
