Welcome to our Technique Tuesday Blog Hop. We will be featuring heat embossing techniques today. I have a great one for you called Joseph’s Coat. Let’s look at the card first.

To create a card with this technique you first create a background of blended ink (or maybe not….see the last example,) clear emboss several stamped images onto the background and then cover everything with a dark color of ink. The clear embossed images will resist the ink and wipe clean revealing your stamped images. It’s like magic.
One bit of caution: be sure to let the ink blended card stock dry COMPLETELY before embossing or the powder will stick everywhere. Be sure to use your heat tool and wait a bit.
This card used the new Lovely Garden stamp set and Summer Splash, Pretty in Pink and Gorgeous Grape ink colors. That great sentiment is also from the Lovely Garden stamp set. This stamp set is being released today, March 4, as part of the newest On Line Exclusives. Be sure to check them out!
Here is another example of this technique with the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set.

My “twist” on this technique was different ways to create the background. I also used masking paper to make it more of a “color block” background. That resulted in this card.

Lastly, I had the idea: What if I didn’t start with a blended background but used a piece of patterned paper instead? I decided to give it a try. This paper was from the Full of Life paper pack. You can see all the details of how I did this in the video below. Here’s the finished product.

I used a lighter color to cover this card choosing Boho Blue for a more watery feel. I’m pleased with the result. What do you think? The advantage to using patterned paper is not having to wait for the ink blending to dry (or dry with a heat tool.)
Here’s a video for you to watch to see the different ways that I created these cards.
