Welcome to our Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. We hope to bring you inspiration twice a month with various themes and techniques. Today our theme is Shapes.

I made this patriotic, red, white, and blue card for my father-in-law who will be going on an honor flight in September. He served in the Navy for many years and we are so thankful that he’ll get this experience. On the return flight back home, there is a mail call and family can provide mail for their veteran to open. My father-in-law will receive this card with a note inside from my husband and me.
To create this card I used the largest banner die from the Nested Essentials die set and cut Real Red, White and Night of Navy banners. I love the detail that the double line of stitching provides. The row of stars is from the retired Treat Bags dies. I used three of those stars to decorate the banner around the sentiment from the stamp set Everyday Thanks.
To use just the “Thank You” part of the sentiment, I covered the second line with painter’s tape and then inked the stamp. Before I stamped, I removed the tape and checked to be sure there was no stray ink on the stamp.
On the Basic White mat inside the card, I added a few more of the red stars to the upper left corner. All in all, it’s a simple card but I think it conveys our thanks for his time spent serving our country. I hope that he will like it.
