Welcome to the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop for March 2025. Today we are hoping to inspire you with our interpretations of a sketch challenge.
Here is the card I created for you with the Ocean Friends bundle.
This card was pretty quick and easy to make as I stuck pretty closely to the sketch. Here’s the sketch that inspired this card. The Ocean Friends bundle is so easy to use. I love the big bold sentiment “Hello, friend”. It is perfect on so many cards.
I was going for a nautical feel with Flirty Flamingo and Night of Navy. The Soft Waves 3D embossing folder creates a fun backdrop as well. How about that Flirty Flamingo lobster? Isn’t she cute?
Here’s is the sketch that we were challenged to use for inspiration.
As you can see my layout followed this very closely. I bet that you could make a great card with this sketch as well. I’d love to see what you make.
instructions for the Hello, Friend sketch challenge card
- Cut an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ card base and score at 4 1/4″.
- Fold and burnish.
- Run a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White through the Soft Waves 3D embossing folder and adhere to the front of the card base.
- Die cut two 2″ Stylish Shapes squares with Flirty Flamingo card stock.
- Adhere to the card front as pictured.
- Die cut one 2 1/2″ square from a piece of Night of Navy card stock with a Stylish Shapes square and use dimensionals to pop it up on the front.
- Stamp the fill in part of the lobster first with “stamped off” Flirty Flamingo ink.
- Add the details to the lobster with full strength Flirty Flaming ink.
- Adhere to the center square.
- Stamp Hello, Friend in Night of Navy on a 1/2″ x 2 5/8″ strip of Basic White.
- Tuck under the lobster claw and adhere.
- Add 5 Tinsel Gems in Blueberry Bushel.
- Stamp a bit of seaweed in Flirty Flamingo on the inside mat of Basic White cut 5 1/4″ x 4″.
- Add a few bubbles in Night of Navy.

Join me this month for my Card Class in the Mail- All Occasion Stamp-a-Stack. We’ll make 8 cards (2 of 4 designs) so you’ll have a supply of cards on hand for all occasions. For August we will use the Inspiring Imperfections stamp set.
Cost is $35.00 (local) or $40 (by mail) or free with a minimum of a $50 order (before taxes and shipping and after any Stampin’ Rewards are applied).
Two options – in person or by mail.
- In Person – class will be held on the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm.
- By mail – Zoom will be held on the last Tuesday of the month at 3 pm. The class will be recorded and the replay available via YouTube if you can’t attend the class. You can substitute stamp sets or add the stamp set/punch to your order and use your own inks.
There is the option to add on the stampset or bundle. You can choose to add the stamp set ($19) or the stamp set and punch bundle ($42.25). Shipping will be on me!
