Welcome to the Technique Squad Blog Hop. Today we are featuring a technique called Faux Dry Embossing. This is a perfect technique to use when you just don’t have the right embossing folder for the job! Basically, using the same color cardstock as your background, you adhere die cuts to simulate the texture of an embossing folder. I hope that makes sense.

Using the Happy Birthday die from the Wanted to Say dies made this background easy to create. I die cut it three times and adhered the Pumpkin Pie die cuts to a Pumpkin Pie mat. It was easy to glue them down using a sponge and a puddle of glue on my silicone mat.

I also added a few stars around each word as well. This was then adhered to a Blueberry Bushel card base.
The sentiment was heat embossed in white and cut with a Deckled Circle. Then it was popped up on the front. A few Blueberry Bushel gems from the Tinsel For Pack and a white Baker’s twine bow finished off the card.
I hope you’ll give Faux Dry Embossing a try on a card. I think you’ll love the look. Want to see all the products used to create this card? Scroll to the bottom of the post. You can click on any thumbnail for more information.
