Every two weeks The Festive Friday design team posts a new challenge based on an upcoming holiday. While their Inspiration list focuses on a holiday to create the Inspo List, you need only choose three items from the list to create your card/project. You do not need to include the holiday theme. The theme is National Beach day which is August 30. Here’s the Inspo List for #festivefridaychallenge #FF0141.

My Faux Double Stamped Vellum card features Pastel Colors, Pearls, and Texture.
You may be wondering why I’ve used “faux” in the name of my card? Usually a Double Stamped Vellum card has heat embossing on the front of the vellum and traditional stamping on the back. Well, I’m too impatient and too messy to stamp on vellum. It smudges very easily and takes a very long time to dry. I have instead stamped on a Basic White mat that is adhered directly under the vellum. This eliminates the long dry time and increases the likelihood that I won’t make a mess!
When working with vellum it’s important to remember that adhesives can show through and liquid glue just oozes everywhere on vellum, too. I have used Tear & Tape as my adhesive on this card.
Instructions for Faux Double stamped vellum card
- Cut a Coastal Cabana card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″. Set aside.
- Rub the embossing buddy (anti static tool) over the front of a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of vellum and then stamp several of the smaller blooms from the Irresistible Blooms stamp set with VersaMark ink.
- Cover with white embossing powder, shake off the excess and then melt with your heat tool. Be sure to warm up the heat tool completely so it will melt the powder quickly and not scorch your vellum.
- On a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Basic White stamp the double leaves with Coastal Cabana ink randomly.
- Also stamp the small leaf in Lemon Lime Twist around the larger leaves. Hold your vellum over the stamped piece and see if you have enough “color” shining through.
- While you have the leaves and ink out, stamp one of each on the inside Basic White mat (5 1/4″ x4″) and stamp one double leaf on a Basic White scrap. Die cut the double leaf.
- Adhere the mat to the inside of the card.
- Place Tear & Tape on the back side of the vellum along the edges and then adhere to the stamped piece.
- On a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White use the 3rd largest Deckled Rectangle die to cut out a frame from the center. Set the inside aside to use on a different card.
- With Tear & Tape on the back side of the frame, adhere it over the vellum. Then adhere the layers to the card front.
- Stamp Happy Birthday from the Artistically Inked stamp set in Coastal Cabana on a 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ scrap of Basic White. Use Tear & Tape or Stampin’ Seal to adhere to the front of your card.
- Adhere the double leaf die cut in step 6 to the front of the card as well.
- Add 3 pearls.
