The Crafty Collaborations Team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in several collaborative projects, including Blog Hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today’s blog hop is all about the Exploring In Color May Paper Pumpkin kit. This kit has amazing cards that show beautiful scenery. I often make my paper pumpkin kits as directed although, I will swap out sentiments if I need cards for a certain occasion. This month I couldn’t bear to leave the card bases intact. Both the front of the card base and the back have gorgeous scenery. I cut each front and back down to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and layered them on Copper Clay or Mossy Meadow card stock.

Here are two cards made from one card base (above.) The card on the right is an alternate that is showcased on the back of the instructions included in the kit. Wanting these cards to all be Father’s Day cards, I used the Father’s Day sentiment from the He’s All That stamp set in the lower right and added a compass die cut to the circle. The card on the left follows the basic layout in the kit with the exception of the sentiment. “To a Great Guy” is from the Wildlife Wonder stamp set. The inside sentiment is also from that stamp set- “You mean so much to me.”

These two cards are mounted on Mossy Meadow card bases. The card on the right uses die cuts from the kit for the sentiment while the card on the left used the Deckled Rectangle dies for the sentiment. The sentiment is cut with the smallest rectangle. The next largest rectangle cut a Mossy Meadow rectangle that I felt was too big as it covered too much of the background. I cut it down after adhering the sentiment in the lower right hand corner of the die cut by putting the rectangle back on the green as shown in the photo below. Then I ran it through my Cut & Emboss machine.

There are not enough die cut pieces for all the cards you will create if you cut the card bases in half. In addition to using the Deckled Rectangles I also used the new Nested Essentials dies to make a few labels as you can see on the card below.

Keeping with the banner theme that was present in the kit, I layered two of the banners from the Nested Essentials dies for the “to a great guy” greeting again. The small Moody Mauve banner and the compass were both die cuts from the kit.
The stamp set that was included in the kit has great sentiments about adventure that I will surely use in the future. It also includes a hiking boot, compass and campfire style mug. These stamps were perfect for adding to the inside of the card and decorating the envelopes for the 9 extra cards created.
Here are the envelopes…

If you are not a Paper Pumpkin subscriber I highly recommend that you give it a try. If you tried a Paper Pumpkin kit several years ago, I suggest you try it again. These kits have grown up over the years. They are a wonderful quality and so much fun to use. You can follow this link to learn more about a Paper Pumpkin subscription.
