Double Ornament Modern Christmas Card

Welcome to the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. Today we are taking a Sketch challenge. Here’s the sketch that inspired our projects.

Here’s the thing about sketches. They are a jumping off point for your card. Believe it or not, this card was really influenced by the sketch. I tried my best to add banners to it, but I just didn’t like it. The influence of the two rectangles can be seen in my two ornaments.

The Modern Christmas paper makes such a fun background for this card. Both ornaments, die cut and stamped with the Ornamental Christmas bundle, are heat embossed to make the details really pop! It is a pretty quick card to make and one that you could easily make in multiples.

Here’s a peek at the inside.

instructions for the Double Ornament Modern Christmas Card

Cut a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Real Red card base and score at 4 1/4″.
Fold and burnish.
Cut your Modern Christmas DSP to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and mat on a piece of Basic Black cut 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″.
DO NOT adhere this to the front of the card base just yet!
Rub your embossing buddy on a 3″ x 3″ square of Real Red card stock and stamp with the horizontal lines using Versamark. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder and melt with your heat tool.
Die cut the ornament. Add a bit of Real Red ink with a blending brush to the edges of the ornament to add dimension.
Follow the same steps to heat emboss the “Tis the Season” using black embossing powder on a Shaded Spruce piece of card stock. Die cut.
Tape a piece of Black & Gold twine to the back of each ornament. Then wrap the twine over the top of the matted DSP and tape to the back.
Adhere the red ornament to the DSP. Add the small gold circles to the top and the bottom.
Use dimensionals to adhere the Shaded Spruce ornament to the DSP. Add the gold circles.
Tie a small bow with the Gold & White twine and another with the Gold & Black twine. Add these to the ornaments with a “rolled” glue dot.
Add three Real Red dots from the Delightful Decorative Dots embellishments.
On a Basic White mat cut 5 1/4″ x 4″, stamp Merry Christmas in Memento Ink.
Adhere a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of DSP to the bottom.
