Welcome to Simply Sketchin’ Saturday #004! I created this Daffodil Afternoon Birthday card to play along with this week’s sketch. The beautiful Daffodil Afternoon paper (free with $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration!) does all the work on this card!
Here’s the SSS #004 sketch!

As you can see the layout doesn’t include measurements for cutting your paper. I shared what I used in the instructions below.
Remember, a sketch is just a starting point. Your card might look different as the sketch may lead you in a different direction. Speaking of direction! I changed mine to Portrait orientation. I encourage you to try this sketch and then post a photo of your card in the comments on the Simply Sketchin’ Saturday post that shows this layout! I can’t wait to see what you make!
Instructions
- Cut a Pear Pizzazz card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″. Fold and burnish.
- With the pattern in the proper orientation, cut a 2 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of the Daffodil Afternoon patterned paper as shown. Adhere it about 1/4″ from the fold.
- Cut 2 1 3/4″ squares from the same piece of paper- just flip it over!
- Adhere these so they touch corners in the middle. The upper & lower points are centered top to bottom and on the right hand edge of the larger piece of patterned paper.
- Stamp “Happy Birthday” from the Celebrating You stamp set on a scrap of Pear Pizzazz and trim with your trimmer. My piece was about 7/8″ x 2 3/8″.
- Add a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut 5 1/4″ x 4″ to the inside to write your greeting.

Blending Brush Class
Do you have Blending Brushes? Would you like to learn 4 new ways to use them? I’ll be doing a Blending Brush class (Via Zoom) FREE for anyone ordering $35 or more between today (January 16) and January 31, 2022. You will need to have Blending Brushes, masks or stencils (Butterflies & Flowers Layering Masks or Basic Patterns), and heat embossing supplies (Versamark, white embossing powder, and a heat tool.) I will be using the Art Gallery Stamp set for all of the stamped images and the inks/papers will be mainly Mint Macaron, Misty Moonlight and Balmy Blue. I will send everyone in the class a card kit with the card stock and die cuts for the four cards. You will need to supply inks and adhesives to make the cards as demonstrated.
Here is a sneak peek of the cards we will be making:

The Blending Brush class will be held on February 11, 2022 at 6:30 PM ET via Zoom. A recording of the class will be made available to all who are registered to attend.
Make your $35 purchase prior to January 31, 2022 to register. Please use this link to shop with me. If you have any questions just send me an email to chatncraftwithlorraine@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
