Thank you so much for everyone that voted for my card in the International Blog Hop for March. I’m excited that I made it into the Top 10 and now get to hop with the winners.
I’ve created a Color Block Zinnia Card for this hop using bright spring colors and the beautiful Zinnia stamp set. I currently have a 13″ of freshly fallen snow at my home so I need Spring in cards at least!

I love this type of background with a stamp that is just an outline. Usually you would need to color in the stamp so if coloring is “not your jam,” give this technique a try. It’s really quite easy. That big, bold wonderful sentiment is from the Simply Zinnia stamp set as well.
The Simply Zinnia stamp set is part of the Flowering Zinnia suite which is an online exclusive with Stampin’ Up! That means you won’t find it in a catalog but you can find it here. All of the Online Exlcusives can be seen on this page.
So how did I make this background? I used 3 pieces of our window sheets cut about 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and die cut a square shape in each using the three smallest squares from the Stylish Shapes dies. You can check out the video replay of a Facebook live below to watch me create this card.
Card stock measurements
I’m not sure if I give you the measurements in the video so here they are for easy reference.
- Melon Mambo card base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″
- Basic Black mat 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
- Basic White 5″ x 3 3/4″
- Basic Black under sentiment 1/2″ x 3 7/8″
- Basic White scrap for sentiment cut to rectangle after stamping

Here are a couple more examples of this technique. This one does not have the dots.

This one uses the Lighting the Way stamp set and a few different colors. Don’t you love that bee?
