Thank you for joining me today on the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. Our theme is coloring tools. We are hoping to show you different ways to add color to your card making. One of my favorite coloring tools is White Craft ink.

I may have invented my own coloring technique for this card using dry embossing and heat embossing. The Garden Green mat of this card was first embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder. Then I “swiped” it with an opened Whisper White craft ink pad. While that was still wet I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool. The result is a textured mat with a white wash look as well as different shades of green. I think it is a perfect backdrop for the rest of the card.
The Christmas trees paper is from the Reindeer Days paper pack and is a great compliment to the background. The sentiment, holly leaves, and gift are from the Reindeer Fun which is part of the Reindeer Days suite. This suite is so much fun to work with and is so versatile.
Instructions for the Christmas is Better together embossed background card
- Cut an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ card base. Score at 4 1/4″. Fold and burnish.
- Run a 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Garden Green through the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder.
- Rub the embossing buddy over the entire mat.
- Holding the opened Whisper White craft ink pad parallel to the paper, swipe it over the raised lines of the mat. Cover the mat with the white ink.
- Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the white ink. Tap off the excess and melt with the heat tool.
- Adhere this mat to the front of the card.
- Adhere a 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of patterned paper to a 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Garden Green card stock.
- Use dimensionals to attach it to the front of the card base as shown.
- Die cut two sets of holly leaves (one Garden Green and one in Granny Apple Green) and one set of berries.
- Cut one leaf off the Garden Green Holly. Adhere the Garden Green under the Granny Apple Green. Adhere the berries in the middle.
- Add a Red & White embellishments to the berries.
- Die cut a gift and a bow from Garden Green and Real Red. Adhere together.
- Die cut the largest Stylish Shapes circle. Stamp the sentiment in Real Red toward the right side of the circle.
- Adhere the holly to the top left and the present to the bottom right.
- Pop this up on the front of the card with dimensionals.
- Add two more embellishments.
- Stamp the tree in Garden Green twice without re-inking it on the lower left corner of the Basic White mat (5 1/4″ x 4″.)
- Fussy cut two “sleeping” reindeer and adhere to the inside.
- Adhere the mat to the inside.
