Boho Blue You Made My Day

Welcome to the Technique Squad Blog Hop! Each month we hop to share a different technique with you in hopes to inspire you to give it a try! This month the technique is masking. There are many ways to use masking in card making. I’m going to show you my favorite!

To create this card, I started with a piece of Basic White cut 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ and a sheet of Masking Paper. I used my trimmer to cut the masking paper in half so I had two pieces measuring 2 1/2″ x 7″. After peeling off the backing I adhered both sheets to my jeans at least three times to remove some of the stickiness. Then I placed one piece horizontally across the bottom and the other across the top.

In the area between the two pieces of masking paper I used a blending brush to add Boho Blue ink in a fairly consistent color. Next I layered several different stamps randomly in the space. “You made my day” and the small cluster of daisies from the Cheerful Daisy stamp set were both stamped in Boho Blue after stamping off once each time. The two large daisies were then stamped with “full strenth” Boho Blue.

Lastly the sentiment was added by stamping in Boho Blue after the masking paper was carefully removed. The Basic White panel was then matted on a piece of Night of Navy cut 5 1/4″ x 4″. Both of these layers were then centered on the card base front. For the final touch, add three Boho Blue In Color Dots.

Here are three more cards I made because I could not stop playing with this technique. I hope you will give this a try. It is so much fun!
